What I'm Now Reading - Ayesha at Last
Updated: Jun 26, 2018
Last week I found myself at Chapters in Edmonton unable to decide what I should purchase as my next read. Normally I read on my Kobo, but because I had a gift card I decided to go for a paperback. I meandered around the store for awhile, flipping over the books not sure exactly what I wanted. I even contemplated buying a purse with the gift card, when I came across an unique romance novel being touted as a Pride and Prejudice with a modern twist. Admittedly, I have never read Jane Austen's novel, (yes I feel the shame), but Ayesha at Last intrigue me for other reasons. It's a romance novel about twentysomething Muslims living in suburban Toronto. I've read hundreds of romance novels, but not once have a read one like this. Although I'm only half way through Uzma Jalaluddin's Ayesha at Last, it's one of those wonderful novels that you wish didn't have to end. It's funny, heartwarming, and has easily become one of my favorite Canadian reads. If your looking for diversity in romance novels, or just want to read an outstanding novel about people falling in love, this one is for you.
